Claude Miceli

My series 'Big Brains/Tiny Worlds' is a reflection on people’s social comportments and interactions in micro societies, within a closed environment in a foreign cultural context. These sculptures are made out of broken and discarded 19TH century German porcelain dolls that I reconstruct and stage on limited spaces.

My series 'Heads Up' has been influenced by the esthetics of worship places within an African context, a continent where I was born and raised.

Claude Miceli

Born in Algiers and raised in France, Claude Micéli studied at Concordia University in Montreal in 1980. In 1984 she moved to Europe. She art directed and created designs for major design projects such as the French pavilion at the Hanover Fair (2000), the football World Cup in Marseille (1998), the Avignon Carnival and for La Massalia, Marseille's 26th centenary celebration.

Back in Toronto Claude worked in TV set design (Corus Entertainment), 3D animation production (Spin Entertainment) and for Alliance Atlantis.Claude has been teaching Design and Art at OCAD University in Toronto since 2011. In 2009 she was curator and exhibiting artist together with JC Knaff for'' Nuit Blanche'' at OCAD (Mond-Een on McCaul). In 2015 she was selected with Jean-Christian Knaff for the Nuit Blanche Toronto with' Fragile' and 2016 for Nuit Blanche Toronto with' Maison/Home'.
